Q: My 1995 toyota Tercel Has an oil leak Leak. Is there anything I can do myself before I take it to a mechanic?
I noticed my toyota tercel has been leaking a little bit oil when it is parked. Is there anything I can do to fix it before I take it to a mechanic. I am on a limited budget so if I want to try anything I can to fix it myself first. Any help is appreciated on this.
A: With leaks you really should determine where it is coming from. Tercel had issues with the oil pan leaking at the front and rear hoop portion of the oil pan. It is sealed with a black silicone type Toyota FIPG gasket ($20) which i recommend if you are mechanically inclined and are gonna try to do it yourself. It is a messy job and care must be taken to get the surfaces clean and dry. If your car has high miles the rear main seal can also leak pretty much in the same spot at the back of the engine too, but the pan is easier and recommended first. Good Luck--T&T

A re-man engine (if you could find one for a 93 Tercel) would cost about 2 grand minimum! You could replace the whole car cheaper.

A: well, hydraulic clutches are self-adjusting, and when they go, they go.
cable clutches are adjustable. I think you may have this kind. any dealer could tell you.

Q: Need help finding a car kit for toyota tercel?
Some jagoff stole my car stereo with the car kit. The kit that came with my car was a whole unit (cup holder, ash tray, etc). Now I have a big hole. How can I get a kit like this in a store? I checked online at besbuy and nothing seems to be compatible. My car is a 92 toyota tercel. Anyone?

The mechanist said I need to replace motor. And the used motor for my Toyota Tercel 1994 is 2000.

Q: Bad Battery jumping for a Toyota Tercel 99. What fuse I should check?
I have a bad battery in my Tercel 99, so I jumped the battery with another car. But I did a mistake by letting the positive & negative of the jumping cable touch each others. So I guess that my fuses are dead, the car won't start again, even with the jumped battery (I get no power at all).
Which fuses should I check to replace them?
A: I assume u are saying they touched after connecting them to the Toy before connecting to other vehicle.
Just for tomorrow - clip the loose - free clip which will go to the starting vehicle around the wires.
Then after u have connected to the dead battery and after u connect the + clip to the starting battery, remove the - clip and attach that.
when jumping batteries, one places the cables on the battery terminals.
The only way to get a fuse to blow is to place the cable someplace else so the current will flow thru the fuse.
If u did that, then I would start with the fusable link usually the first thing u come to off the + terminal of the battery going to the other fuses. It is possibly integrated into the + terminal.
The starter cable does not have a fuse on it. It goes directly from the battery + to the starter.
Now, is it possible to damage other components like a PCM.
Not hardly. Since there is now way to draw current thru it by shorting leads out.
Is it possible to damage an alternator?
Maybe depending on where u clipped the cable. If u connected to the alternator, u may have a problem here.
Lesson, NEVER connect + lead to anything but the battery terminal.
NOW, when u try 2 jump it do u get any spark when attaching the - lead (after the + always). If not, maybe the cables are open. I assume the other vehicle still works.

A: alignment aprox. $65.00
Rotation, and balancing could cost as much as $30.00
Full tune up $75.00, and up.

A: Honestly, don't expect much.
Since it's a Toyota, I'd ask $500 and see if there are any takers. If it wasn't a Toyota, I'd ask $150-200.
Q: How do you change the headlight in a 93 Toyota Tercel?
A: If you are referring to just the bulb, if you find the wires running to the headlight, it should be as simple as a quarter to half turn counter-clockwise and the harness, with bulb, should slide out of the housing. Then you take the bulb out of the harness, put a new bulb in, slide it back into the housing, and a quarter to half turn clockwise locks it back in place.
Q: cigratee lighter problem in toyota tercel?

when i press the cigratte lighter inside it does not stay there and come out right away
however if i keep it pushed with my hand,
the coil turn red...

A: remove fuse or disconnect battery,,,,pry in the two metal that hold the lighter inside, not too much or else the lighter wont go in,,,then try,,there should be a resistance when you try to pull it out,,,

The bushing is bad and needs to be replaced, i was wondering if i could drove the car with the bushing like that's.

A: You can but not for long. I wouldn't drive it any farther than to the nearest alignment shop.
Ignore Jen. The Tercel is an excellent, reliable small car. Take good care of it - like getting that bushing fixed - and you can drive it long enough to hand down to your kids.
Q: Toyota Tercel Check Engine Light stays on?
I had the EGR valve cleaned and replaced by the mechanic but the Check Engine light came back on. He says that the code indicates the problem is the valve so he is now saying that my computer could be sending the wrong error code. Could that be true or is he lying?
A: PLEASE do NOT take it back to him. He needs a course in vehicle diagnostics!!!
Your computer IS sending the correct code, but just because it says it's the egr doesn't mean that something else is wrong. A vaccum leak, faulty MAP sensor, etc. commonly sends an egr code when in fact the egr is perfectly fine.
I'm certified in vehicle diagnostic strategies and I belive you should take it somewhere else that has ASE certified technicians.
Q: What type of oil does a 94 toyota tercel take?
A: It may be a little more expensive but i have found that putting a synthetic keeps your engine cooler and promotes less friction. Therefore you get better gas mileage. i get 4 more mies a gallon since i have switched.
