Q: Toyota Celica?
Anyone have a 1990-1993 Toyota Celica? I'm just wondering how good they are? I just got one, and just on an average how long do they last, and what are their major problems if any?

A: Don't let the bitter Detroit union hacks fool you. The Toyota Celica is a very good car. You should get 150,000 out of it without any big repairs, and 250,000 miles if you're willing to spend a few hundred on maintenance. I've owned 3 Celicas - a 1975, a 1987 converticle and a 1992. All of them rand like champs and sold for good money. I had a little trouble with electric window switch on the 1987, replaced the alternator early on the '92.

Q: How can you tell the difference between a 1997 toyota celica coupe and liftback?
I bought a 1997 toyota celica not that long ago but i couldnt tell what trim it was like a ST or GT. The owner didnt know anything at all. So my question is how can i tell from details from the car if it is a ST or GT? Also how could i tell if it is a coupe or liftback? i couldn't get anything out of the manual.

A: Give your VIN to a Toyota dealer and they can tell you all kinds of stuff about the car. If your Celica has a 1.8L engine, it's an ST and if it's a 2.2L, it's a GT. On a liftback model, the rear glass raises when you pop the trunk. The back glass is close to the size of the windshield. A coupe's back glass is shorter and does not move when you open the trunk. Only a conventional decklid opens when you pop the trunk.

Q: Is a 1992 toyota celica gts a good choice for a car?
I am interested in a 1992 toyota celica gts and am wondering what some knowledgeable people in them think. It has 145000 miles and in very good condition for the age. I can get it for 3600 and am wondering if thats a good deal. Is the car even worth it?

A: If it really is in VERY good condition, that's not a bad deal. I'd offer 3 grand if he's asking 3600. Most Celicas of that age aren't in good enough condition to command that price, though.

Q: How much would a custom paint job on a Toyota Celica cost?
I am looking to paint my Toyota Celica pink. Is there somewhere (in California) that can custom paint it without being too expensive?

A: Prolly $500. Try the phone book. Pink??

Q: What can I do to make my Toyota Celica quicker?
I have a 2000 Toyota Celica GTS and it's fully stock. Although I like the styling of the car, I have to admit it's a bit sluggish. What can I do specifically to make the car have more torque, be more responsive, and be quicker off the line. Let me know, Thanks.

A: try here

Q: How important is it to replace the valve guide seals in my 1996 Toyota Celica?
My mechanic says I need to replace the valve guide seals in my 1996 Toyota Celica. It will cost $800. What's the worst that can happen if I don't?

A: you will also be blowing a lot of blue smoke out of your tail pipe sonstantly, and if it gets bed enough you will need to constantly monitor and fill your oil to maintain the proper level.

Q: What engine coolant do I put in my Toyota Celica?
So my toyota Celica 2003 had some pink fluid in the engine coolant and I dont know what it was... Could I put any kind of engine coolant in there? Such as anti freeze and stuff? Or does it have to be this pink liquid thing that was in there? Thanks for all the answers guys.

A: The pink stuff from Toyota has a "low sulfate" content in it. This is to prevent corrosion and cavitation in the water jackets. I would suggest that you continue to use the "pink stuff" from Toyota. It will result in longer engine life and less hastles in the long run. Do not mix it with the "green stuff". They are not compatible. If you decide you want to put the green stuff in your Toyota, make sure you flush the system completely. Like I said... you would be better off with the Pink stuff... It was designed to have that in it and it will make any part that is contacted by coolant last longer. Ask the guys at the Toyota Parts counter to show you what happens to a water pump with the green stuff in it. They will have a pamphlet on it... Good luck

Q: I was wondering what would be the absolute best engine to put in a Toyota Celica?
What is the absolute best engine to put into a 7th generation Toyota Celica? With unlimited funds, and the with out unlimited funds?

A: with unlimited funds, why not just trade it in for a real car!

Q: How much would it cost to repair a leaky roof on a 1994 Toyota Celica ST?
I am thinking of buying a 1994 Toyota Celica for 1500 dollars, its has 125k miles on it, but the front and rear bumper need to be replaced (couple hundred dollars each) and a leaky roof, how much would it take to fix the roof? And after all my expenses, would it still be a good deal?

A: The roof is it a moon roof or a retractable roof window??? Is it the window that is leaking or is it the rust around the window frame... Cost to fix could run as hi as $600 repaired professionally at the body shop.

Q: How much does it cost to fix a wheel bearing on a 96 Toyota Celica?
How much does it cost to fix a wheel bearing on a 96 Toyota Celica? Front -Left (Passenger Side) I was given the price $256, and dropped down to $167. Should I take it?

A: The bearing will cost about $40 and it will take a mechanic about an hour to fit it. Maybe a little longer, so be prepared to pay for 2 hours labour. ss

Q: How much would it cost to paint toyota celica gt with some designs?
i have toyota celica gt with full body kit im just wondering how much would it cost to paint it with some body designs..

A: That would depend on how much you wanted painted? Pin striping around 250 to $500. Bigger graphic $500 and up, Paint is not cheep can be over $10,000 if you do alot with detail.

Q: Should I buy a 1994 Toyota celica that is in pristine condition?
I have been searching for a 1999 Toyota celica with all the options but without success. I found a 1994 that has everything I want plus only one owner. They are asking almost 6k for the car and I've found many newer cars (Honda Civics etc) for close to that price. The celica is my dream car but I'm thinking reliability, lifespan and how much it's really worth... I did a complete carfax check on this car and it has had only one owner who had it serviced at a toyota service center every 4 thousand miles. No accidents, no part replacements. And I was planning on negotiating the price because of the age.

A: The car is well overpriced. I would not even consider it for more than $4,000, and that assumes that it has extremely (under 50K) low miles on it and no rust!

Q: Where can I find a toyota celica headlight assy?
I bought my '02 Toyota Celica GT used in 2004. Almost immediately after I drove it off the lot, the drivers side headlight dropped. It had been glued back on!! I dealt with this eyesore for over 2 years. Then I was in an accident. The truck shattered the bad headlight. His insurance company paid to fix my car. Finally, two normal headlights!! But the bodyshop that fixed my car, must have cracked the seal on the other headlight. Or perhaps the accident cracked the seal, but they didn't catch it. I noticed the moisture in my passenger side headlight assy, and called the body shop. They told me it was probably there before the accident, i just never noticed it. EXCUSE ME?! I looked at my uneven headlights every time i got in and out of my car, I know there was no moisture. But long story short, I couldn't find a drivers side headlight assy for the two years I looked, any chance I'll find a passenger side assy used?? They are not cheap straight from Toyota! THANKS!

A: Moisture inside of the newer "composite" style headlamps is not unusual... most manufacturers usually advise to turn on the lamps for a few moments and the moisture will dissipate... These lamps are "vented" and can collect moisture from the atmosphere... Unfotunately, over a period of time the lamp becomes dirty or "dull" inside and therefore will look terrible alongside of the new one that your body shop installed and there is no practical way to clean the inside... For a new lamp there are probably "aftermarket" units available, ie: not made by Toyota but from another source. Check with any good body shop and they can check for you. Odds of finding a good used lamp for this model are pretty slim
