I have a 2001 Nissan Maxima SE with a Bose stereo system (factory). The speakers intermittently go out and come back on. What can I do?
A: Sounds like you have a bad speakers (one or more) causing the amp to go into protection. If I remember right, the Maxima BOSE system amp is under the rear deck????. A good shop should be able to tell if the speakers are bad or it is with the amp and/or radio.
Q: What is the best bike trunk mount rack to buy for a Nissan Maxima with a spolier?
I am new to biking, and I am looking for a good bike trunk mounted rack that I can put on my Nissan Maxima with a spoiler. I would like to be able to put my mountain bike on the back of the car, and drive down the highway a half hour to south to enjoy the parks and beach boardwalks, that I have read about. Any advice on things to consider when buying one would be greatly appreciated. How easy are they to install and uninstall, especially for a first timer like me? Are they sturdy enough to withstand highway travel?
A: The Saris Bones is curved and has clearance to go over most spoilers that aren't too tall. If you buy locally at a knowledgable bike shop, they'll install and adjust it.

Q: 95 Fuel Injected Nissan Maxima Hesitating when pushing gas?
Ok so my friend has a 95 Nissan Maxima and he wants me to ask this questions, ok the car runs fine but sometimes his car will hesitate when he is pushing the gas sometimes, like he will be going up a hill and the car will act like it doesn't won't to go, this problem only occurs at speeds under 40 mph or so, I am thinking it is the oxygen sensor but he just had a inspection and the o2 sensor checked out fine, anyone know why his car would do this?
Also he uses the overdrive function properly.
And he has also ran some fuel injection cleaner it helped a little but the last time he did it, it didn't really affect it.
A: I am pretty sure it is you IACV (idle air control valve). Funny, just replaced mine tonight after having the same symptoms. Now car runs great.
Easy do it your self job. Make sure to clean out the throttle body with some carb cleaner before you put in the new part.
The part goes for an avg. $50

A: body kit, 18" rims, cold air intake, catback exhaust
please don't put a body kit on your Maxima. Change the rims, change the exhaust, get the windows tinted if you haven't already, and the FACTORY spoiler if you don't have it. Short Ram intake if you want an intake, Cold air intake doesn't really give you much more of a HP gain (maybe 1hp) and its a lot harder to install a Cold air. Not to mention if your cold air intake gets submerged in water your engine will stop working since it will get hydrolocked.

A: Neither, I'd rather walk. Between the Maxipad's auto tranny problems and the Saturn's head gasket problems, be easier to walk. Certainly wouldnt pay for either car, it'd have to be free.
Q: What's a good alternative to a Nissan Maxima?
I owned a 2004 Nissan Maxima and liked the performance and assorted gadgets it had in it. I no longer have the car anymore, but would like to buy something similar. ABSOLUTELY MUST be faster (0-60 in 6 seconds or less). Also I'd like to find something with similar bells and whistles (heated seats and steering wheel, power seats, six disc cd changer). I'm also restricted to the $15,000 to $20,000 range. Any suggestions? Don't say another Nissan either please.
A: Probably over your maximum price - but try a late model Buick LeSabre. I picked up one new in 2004, and have been stunned. Good mileage, fast as a raped ape, and has all the cool toys.
If you just can't stomach buying native, my neighbor swears by Camry.

Q: Do I need to put on snow cables on both front wheel drive tires of my Nissan Maxima, or just one?
I bought snow cables from Autozone, but it appears that the box only has the cable for a single tire. Will I get sufficient traction with snow chains on only one tire? Or do I need to buy two such boxes to fit both my front wheel tires? I have an '03 Nissan Maxima.
A: You will need another one for the other tire.

I have a 2005 Nissan Altima 3.5 and want to purchase a Navigational system that came and fits a 04-06 Nissan Maxima. Id like to direct plug it in but need to make sure of it's compatibility.
A: Won't work If the car had navagation you could replace parts. The navi control unit DVD player is inside the dash board behind the lower compartment the Audio visiual switch and A/C controls are different the dash board display is color and the Navagation control panel is different and your stock wiring harness does not have plugs for all these units to communate nor does it have a GPS antennia. So I know you have your eyes on that 2008 Altima with touch start and blue tooth hands free phone and technology package with navagation. Trade and add another car mortgage onto your credit.

Q: How to replace rear O2 sensor in 97 Nissan Maxima?
My parents have a 1997 Nissan Maxima GLE and they need to replace their rear Oxygen Sensor because they're getting the error code "P0136: O2 Sensor Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor2)". I need a DIY, perferably step-by-step with pictures, that my parents will be able to understand. Anybody know of any good resources?
This is for my parents who live 2 hours away from me (and I don't feel like driving). I know this is a simple task, I just need some resources that I can send my parents so they can do it themselves.
A: I am not a mechanic, but I did change an o2 sensor on a my 92 maxima once. What you need is to call your local dealer's parts department and ask them for the directions to change the o2 sensor from their repair manual. They will usually fax it over to you if you have the capability or make you copies. Otherwise you can buy the repair manual and o2 sensor from them if need be or of course a auto parts store such as Autozone usually carries both items. I will tell you that you will need a GOOD bolt loosen-er/rust remover like WD40, and a lot of it! The o2 sensor is on the underside of the exhaust usually towards the front around where the driver/passenger sits. I hope this helps.

A: best thing for you to do is to buy you a book on your car. There are several steps in changing shocks and it would be best if you had a book so nothing gets left out.

A: For the fron speakers, you need to remove the entire door panel, remove the speaker and it's enclosure (the Bose amplifier is integrated into the enclosure).
For the rear speakers, you need to remove the entire rear deck lid.

Q: Why doesn't Nismo provide any performance parts for Nissan Maxima?
Just wondering, since the Maxima is nissan's flagship sedan it deserves at least an s-tune package instead of just performance wheels.
