A: Sorry, but they've already stopped. You can get a used one. I personally like the new LS that replaced the 2006 better. You might want to look into that.
Q: Is it costly to maintain a Lexus LS 430 after warranty runs out? To keep it running up until 150,000 miles?
A: You don't even need the warranty to begin with. Lexus is the easiest luxury car to take care of. 95%, you'll never need to get repairs done on it. You do need to do routine maintenance like oil changes, tire rotations, etc., but all cars need that. Like the answer before mine said, 150k miles is nothing for a Lexus.
Q: Is Lexus LS 430 Trunk Strut Problem Very Common?
MY WIFE HAS BEEN HIT IN THE HEAD MANY TIMES, AS I HAVE, BY THE 2001 LS 430 TRUNK LID COMING DOWN DUE TO MODERATE WINDS AND JUST PUTTING GROCERIES IN THE TRUNK. THE WEAK TRUNK STRUT CONDITION GETS WORSE OVER TIME, SO WHO ELSE HAS A 2001 TO 2006 LS 430 WITH THE SAME PROBLEM?
This common problem may be caused by "under-engineered" gas shocks that last only two years out of the 5 year warranty. The NHTSA is currently investigating them. Gas shocks can be made to last at least 5 years under normal "grocery shopping/travel" use. So, having to replace them before 5 years is not "normal wear and tear". Dealer replacement cost on mine is $469.64, so they are not so cheap to replace.
A: This is a very common problem. The struts are not defective, they simply wear with age as the gas slowly deteriorates from within. They are not very expensive to replace. There is a similar concern with the trunk shocks on the SC430 coupe. Not a defective part, just normal wear and tear.

A: When you say microphone, you mean for the voice activated commands right? Overhead console near the garage buttons. You notice a pin sized hole, that is the microphone.

A: The US spec model will have more pollution control devices; more door reinforcement and safety features which may not be require in other parts of the world. Locating parts may or may not be a problem as Lexus parts tend to last a long time. (I was thinking of pollution control parts). If there is a car with Gulf specs it might include more heavily tinted windows and beefed-up air conditioning.

The Audi is a 2004. The Lexus is a 2005.
The Audi has 47K miles and the Lexus 50K.
A: The Lexus LS430 accelerates faster, rides smoother, and is inordinately reliable. It also has a higher classiness factor. I'd go with it.

A: The Avalon is a very nice car, the top of the Toyota line, with many of the characteristics of Toyota's Lexus line, but much less expensive -- but typically purchased by older folks because it lacks the sporty styling that younger people like.

I'm comtemplating getting a set of Pep Boys wheels for my late Model LS 400..Just something to make it look a little better than stock.
Do they fit well,or is there a lot of modification (changing lug nut styles,etc.) involved? And are they durable?
Am I better off just saving the money over a longer period of time and going with Rims from a newer model Lexus such as a LS 430?
A: Your better off saving your money or spending it on something else rather than wheels for a 10 year old car. Buy them and w/o taking them out of the box, you couldn't sell them for half what you paid for them. Put them on your car and you won't get one dime more for your car when you sell it because the wheels are on it.
Use the money for a great night out, (dinner and a concert) with your girlfriend. At least then you will have some memories. Buy the wheels and you'll have nothing.

A: You want either a tiny sport sedan or a gigantic SUV? That is quite odd. Neither one, I'd go with a GS 450h

A: Well for BMW the first number used to be number of doors, the second was something and the 3rd was the engine size.
The c is for coupe, x is for all-wheel drive, etc etc.
Now for BMW the first number is for body style 3 (compact) 5 (mid-size) 7 (full-size) and 6 is for sport (about the size of a 5).
M3 is a 3 series sports car, M5 and M6 same thing.
The second two numbers are engine size (30 is a 3 Liter engine).
The i is always for fuel injection. In Europe you are more likely to see td (turbo diesel).

I am looking at purchasing a car from a gentleman in the UK. It is a 2004 Lexus LS 430, which retails for $38K but that he is selling for $6,500. Seems too good to be true. He says he is going through a divorce and just wants to sell it fast. He has it set up through fortis escrow/DAS. He also claims he will give me a 5 day test period upon delivery before making any decision. He says he will pay shipping and return shipping if I don't like it. I'm worried I'm being thrown over. I want to do this through my bank so that hopefully, they will catch any fraud. If anyone has any other suggestions on research I can do or things I should be careful of, please let me know. If this deal is for real, I'm making one hell of a profitable buy. Thanks!
A: Gee, I got the same deal. Is your lexus black and in mint condition. They are probably selling that car 50000 times. My seller is in Cardiff and set it up through Fortis, a foreign escrow service that to my knowledge has no US office nor does business in the retail purchase of cars by consumers. Keep your money.
