Q: What is the best winter tire for Honda Fit in Edmonton?
I am driving Honda Fit Sport(P195/55 R15 84H)
I am wondering what is the best winter tire for this car in Edmonton.
Tires I am considering are..
Continental Nord Frost
Michelin X-Ice
Semperit
Because of price, Continental is the top on my list so far.
Has anyone used these tires?
Or if you could recommend any other brand, I appreciate it.
This is my first car in my life.
65% City Drive
35% Highway
A: The Bridgestone Blizzak series have been the standard by which all other winter tires have been compared for nearly 2 decades. They have 3 models to chose from in this size:
The Blizzak WS-50 has been around for a few years and is well proven, using Bridgestone's multi-cell technology for traction on ice. It is heavily optimized towards winter weather but has recently been discontinued. There are still plenty available though and because of this there are deals to be had. www.tirerack.com is closing them out at $77 USD each + shipping. I have these tires currently and swear by them in the cold, ice and snow but find them squirmy on dry pavement under even moderate cornering loads on my high-performance FWD car. Take them off as soon as winter is over too as they really don't like warm weather.
The Blizzak WS-60 is Bridgestone's 3rd generation Blizzak and the replacement for the WS-50 with enhanced dry-weather performance without sacrificing snow and ice traction. Have not tried this one yet because they are just starting to ship the first production batches but I can guarantee this will be the new standard by which all other winter tires are compared. Still waiting to get the first ones in my store actually. I should be getting 15 sets on Friday.
The Blizzak LM-25 is a "performance winter tire" with a higher speed rating. This gives up a little bit of snow and ice traction in favor so that it doesn't have to give up so much dry-pavement grip and steering response. In other words, this is a better handling tire than the WS-50 or WS-60 but slightly inferior is severe weather. If you are an aggressive driver you may find this one more to your liking. They may also wear somewhat better. Comparable tires would be the Michelin Pilot Alpin PA2 and Nokian WR. The Nokian WR is the only winter tire you can leave on the car all year-round, it performs very well in the snow and has better dry pavement performance than a WS-50 but not as good on ice. I use the WR on my wife's minivan. For a while I used it all year round but this year have relegated it to strictly winter use.
The Michelin X-ice is in roughly the same legue as the Blizzak WS-50. Is it better? Probably not. Is it good? Absolutely. The Nokian RSi would be another one worth considering. It, unlike the WR is strictly for winter use only and is Nokian's non-studded winter tire. They also make the famous Hakkapalitta studdable winter tire which has achieved quite a cult following.
Just FYI - the Nikia telecom company and Nokian Tyre were one and the same company up until about a dozen years ago and both are based out of Nokia Finland. Those Finn's know a thing or two about winter driving.
Continental's winter tires are not very popular. Theirs are among the few winter tires I have not personally tested simply because I have never had anyone request them nor have I encounted a customers car already so fitted. They are probably decent enough but there are better choices out there.
Semperit's I have no recent experience with. I wasn't even aware the brand was still alive and kicking.
Always use winter tires as complete sets of 4. Never use just two on a car or you are asking for trouble.
Q: Why does the volume of my stereo go down when I come to a stop in my 2007 HONDA FIT?
I just got this 07 Honda Fit and it's awesome except for one thing. Whenever I'm going fast and then slow down the car stereo's volume goes down too! While the actual number of the volume is the same, the sound is definitely quieter. how can i stop this from happening?
A: Turn off the speed sensitive volume feature built into the radio.
Q: what should I do and how often to maintain my Honda Fit?
I am now leasing a 2008 Honda Fit (automatic basic i.e. not sport) and I want to take excellent care of it because I love it so much.
What should I do and how often to keep it up?
Oil Check / Change
Tire Check / Change / Rotate
Detailing
Is there anything else I should do?
A: check the owners manual and it will tell you everything you need to know on how to keep up your specific car.
Q: Does anyone know that will the Honda Fit have supercharger or not?
Recenly I want to buy a 07' Honda Fit; however, the horsepower is too low and I wish I can upgrade it, so I just want to ask if there will be a supercharger for Fit or not.Tks
A: Probably not, this is an economy car. You might be able to get an electric supercharger to work in your Fit, but you'll want to have the motor beefed up. Supercharging places more stress on parts designed for low horsepower. Personally, if you want more power get a more powerful car. If you want economy, get an economy car. Trying to get something like this to be a performance vehicle is a waste of money. I would get a Civic if need a little more get up and go.
Q: Is the Honda Fit a good, reliable, and worthy car?
I might get one soon and I need to know if anyone owns one or has driven one. I think the Honda Fit design is very nice and I need to know about space issues, headroom, and overall service and reliability. Basically, is it a good car.
A: Yes i love mine its like driving a go cart. I have a 5 sp maunal sport and it is so much fun to drive the only thing i have ever had done to it is regular schedualed maint. such as oil changes ect. but yes its a wonderful little car it gets great gas milage i average 31 in the city and with these outrageous gas prices its a good thing to have it has won award after award and once you drive it you will love it
Q: Do you have any suggestions for a first car? Maybe a Honda Fit?
I'm a 16 year old girl and will be getting my first car soon. I'm looking for something under $15,000 if possible, new or used is okay with me. I'm not really crazy about the sedan style, which limits my options. I do like hatchbacks though. Good gas mileage is important and so is safety.
I've been looking at the Honda Fit and it seems great for me, but I also want to consider other options. If anyone has a Fit, I'd love to hear about it.
Thank you!
A: The Mazda 3 is a great car. I have one and I love it. I personaly don't like the hatchback look but the 3 is made in a hatchback model. If you get the basic model, without alloy wheels power windows and locks, you can get one new for around $15,000 though the best thing to do is get one a year or two old. Other than that any honda would be perfect you. Like a used civic which comes in hatchback as well I believe. Definately stick with an import and specifically Japanese like Honda, Nissan or Mazda. They are more known for reliabitlity and value in that lower price range.
Good Luck!
Q: honda fit - kia rio5 -I like all the features of the rio but the honda is well a honda?
i'm looking at a honda fit and a kia rio5 - like all the features of the rio including sunroof and htd seats not available on the fit, as well as the great warranty, but the fit is more fun to drive and i like to drive. also the flexibility of the fit - seat wise is intriquing. i just wish it had a sunroof. your thoughts ? please help .
A: I would go for the Honda if you like it more. There are lots of companys that offer aftermarket sunroofs. Many dealers work with these companys. A lot of them offer a lifetime warranty on the sunroof. Don't believe when people tell you they all leak. Get the Honda Fit and have the sunroof added.
Q: Any ideas for a custom license plate for a Honda fit?
I have a blackberry pearl honda fit. Looking to use the heart symbol as one of my characters. I live in CA so we get a total of 7. Can anyone think of anything clever???
A: SM(Heart) CART
Q: What kind of engine swap can a USDM Honda Fit handle?
My friend is thinking of dropping a Civic Si engine into his Honda Fit. Is this possible? What about the engine mounts? Has anyone seen anything similar before? If so, which engines?
A: Any K-series engine should fit with the same engine mounts. RSX, Civic, or TSX.
Q: Which car is better for a college graduate the Honda Fit or Nissan Versa?
My daughjter has been persuaded by a boyfriend to consider the Nissan Versa as a better car over the wishes of her parents who are willingly to buy her a HOnda Fit as her graduation present. The parents have never bought anything other than three hondas First, a Civic asnd then two Accords. The father's sister and brother in law have recently both switched from Saturns to the ACcord and the Hybrid Civic..
What does the Nissan have to offer that makes it better than the Fit? The Fit is number one in Fuel efficiency for its category..
The Nissan Versa has a Xtronic CVC transmission...(is that a centrifical one that a continualy changes to provide better fuel effiency and a smoother ride ? Or what>>>ANy crash test results that anyone knows of as well? Let me know...I was not impressed with the information on The Versa but have not driven it although I have driven the Fit..My ego can handfle it if the Versa is really better thann the Fit but from what I read I am not convinced.
A: While I have not looked at either the Fit or the Versa, my preference would be on the Honda for the simple fact that they have a better reputation for quality and resale value. Nissan typically gears their cars more for sport appeal whereas Honda has consistently emphasized quality and durability. In addition, I have owned both a new Nissan and a new Honda. The Honda has been the best car ever owned whereas the Nissan had so many recalls and manufacturing issues that we couldn't wait to trade it.
Test drive both, but my money would still be on the Honda. Of course, in agreeance with a previous poster, the Civic may be an even better purchase.
Q: Is a Honda Fit really that much better than a Smart Car?
I was considering a smart car but my research and other opinions have suggested the honda fit. what makes the honda fit so great in comparison to a smart car?
A: I've seen the Smart Car around, but I haven't looked at one up close, they are VERY small....and I have a family, so I need something a little bigger....
I bought a Scion XD(made by Toyota), which in my opinion is the better looking twin to the Honda Fit....(and the Scion was a little less money)
Obviously you are looking to save money, upfront and also at the gas pump......
These are vehicles that I recommend you look at....research them online, test drive them....take your time, a vehicle is a major purchase...
Toyota Yaris
Scion XD
Honda Fit
Toyota Prius
Smart Car
I have a feeling that the Smart Cars will eventually be just 'disposable' little cars (like the Yugo and Ford Festiva)...atleast with the Honda/Scion/Toyota cars, your car will still be running and still be worth $$ after 5+ years....
Q: I want to test drive a Honda Fit, are there any needed qualifications?
My Impreza only takes premium and I'm considering getting a Honda Fit for a daily driver. Can I just walk in there and test drive it? I'm 90% sure I'm not going to get one but I'm interested. BTW I'm only 20.
I figured license of obvious. Can I just walk in there and be like "I want to drive that car" and do it?
A: As long as you're 18 or older with a valid drivers license then you can do a test-drive. However, what's the point in buying a new car just so you can save 10 cents per gallon?
Q: Will my cedar chest fit in a Honda Fit?
Hey All,
I need to fit a cedar chest, with the measurements 25" X 38" X 25" in a car, and Im looking at renting a Honda Fit (cheaper than renting a truck). Does anyone know the exact measurements of the hatchback opening on a Honda Fit? I dont see it anywhere on the specifications on the Honda website, they only list trunk capacity, I need to make sure its going to fit through the opening. Cheers!
A: If it's made of cedar then I doubt it. Sorry.
Q: Should i buy a honda fit a toyota Yaris liftback?
I am looking to buy a new car but being young and working for a temp agency my husband doesn;t want me to go over board with an car that i can't aford. so i ma between the yaris and the honda fit if anyone has any of the 2008 or 2007 models of these cars and can tell me what they like and dislike about the car, or have an opinion on which one is better it would really help me out.
A: depend if you want to save more gas yaris if for your, u will average up to 10mpg than fit, while fit is more style, but i find yaris more roomy, take look at Nissan Versa offered more than those 2, my's comes with blue-tooth intel key (is like those like mercedez you don't put key in the hole is a remote instead) 6 CD changers. For under 17k total with tax. get 07 model is the same ! u save more, 08 model is costly they just out.
Q: Is the new 2009 Honda Fit a good car?
My boy friend and I are car shopping and we were looking at the Honda fit. Is it a good car? Does it get good gas mileage? How about safety? And is it really fun to drive? If you went to a car dealership, what is the most you would pay - monthly and car price and down payment for the Honda fit? Maximum! What would you pay? What would you NOT go over?
And is it really fun to drive? If you went to a car dealership, what is the most you would pay - monthly and car price and down payment for the Honda fit? Maximum! What would you pay? What would you NOT go over?
Please answer this also!
A: Yes it is ok. Would buy an Accord if I got a Honda.
