Q: 95 honda civic automatic tranny, do I have to check the tranny fluid while the car is on ?
95 honda civic automatic tranny, do I have to check the tranny fluid while the car is on ?
A: Look in your owner's manual. It says to check the transmission fluid with the engine OFF. I believe it should be warmed up though. Here is the actual page from the Owner's Manual telling you this: https://techinfo.honda.com/rjanisis/pubs/om/CV9595/CV9595O00136A.pdf

Q: How to find out if my 2001 honda civic lx 2d has a keyless entry system?
I am trying to find out if my 2001 honda civic lx 2d has a keyless entry system already installed. I was wonder if someone could tell me where to look in my car to see if I have it. I have power locks so i dont know if that means anything. Also if im pretty good at installing things is it easy to install if i buy the system off line? Thanks for your help!
A: the 2001 Civic LX did not come with the factory keyless entry as standard equipment. It was available as a dealer installed accessory. The easiest way to tell if you have it, provided the original owner didn't lose it is to see if you have a remote transmitter. If you have an oval shaped black key fob with lock and unlock buttons that says "honda" on it, you have keyless. If you don't have the fob it may have been lost but the overwhelming odds are that you don't have keyless entry on it.
With patience you can install the factory keyless remote system with little problem. I have the instructions from the one I put on my 2005. They are the same system. I bought my kelyess entry system through my honda dealer shortly after I bought th car. The install kit should still be available.
If you would like a scanned copy of those instructions to install the factory system you'll have to send me an email with a real email address. I cannot attach a file to a Yahoo Answer. to do that, click on the icon above my name to the left of this answer and click on 'send email'. include your return email address in the reply and I'll send you the instructions.
You may want to price the system before you decide to do this. there are aftermarket systems available at stereo shops and alarm installers as well as at Best Buy, circuit city and others that are probably much less than the Honda system. Plus, they'll do the intall for you.
Hope that helps
Q: How much would it cost for a Honda Civic Hatchback and B20 engine swap?
How much would it cost, and is it worth it, to buy 1995 honda civic hatchback and swap the engine for a B20? Also would it be a good choice to buy an Acura Legend? Is it fast?
A: B20 engine range any where from $600 to $3200 all depends on what has be done to it for example a B20 with a B16a head is what you would call a Frankenstein, a demon in the racing industry shop on ebay see what you can find, as for a legend thats more a car for looks you can if you like sup it up but thats a waste of time, and ek with a B20 vtex or a H22 prelude engine would be the way to go, thats my opinion.

Q: Is a Honda Civic really the best car to learn how to drive a standard in?
I'm 17 years old, and I've been wanting to learn how to drive a manual transmission since I started driving (a little over a year).
And I heard that the best car to learn in is a Honda Civic.
Is that true?
If so, what model and year would be the best?
Or does it matter?
Thank you. 10 points to best answer!
A: lol don't listen to answer #2, I too have wanted to learn how to drive stick because my bf does. Um, I've tried in a 94 civic, it's just as hard as any other, just trying to get it out of first though, lol. Butttt, I think hondas are a great car! I just went from a ford to a honda accord, ittts so much better! & gooooood gas mileage
Q: Will my honda civic fail inspection if i add some aftermarket parts?
by parts i mean if i take out the stock air intake system and put in an aftermarket cold air intake. also if i replace the stock exhaust with an exhaust system(catback). and would it matter if the car has a low body kit or not?(i cant see why a body kit would be a problem) its a 1997 honda civic DX coupe .
A: As far as intake and exhaust, they pretty much are all legal. Make sure whatever you get has a CA smog number. Even if you dont live in CA, if its CA compliant you won have any trouble passing smog because CA has the highest smog restrictions.
Q: How much will new shocks and struts cost for my 1996 Honda Civic?
I have a 1996 Honda Civic that rides rough. It has 130K miles and the shocks & struts have never been replaced. I live in Washington DC. How much will parts & labor cost?
A: About $900 to replace all 4 and get an alignment.
Q: Why is it so hard to find a Honda Civic with Electronic Stability Control?
I am looking to buy a 2008 or 2009 used 4 door Honda Civic, with auto transmission and electronic stability control. There are thousands of these, except none of them have electronic stability control. Why is this? And does anyone know where I can find one that does have it? Thanks!
A: 2008 Only available in the Si(6 speed manual transmission)
2009 In the Si(6 speed manual transmission), Hybrid(CVT) and EX-l only(automatic or manual)
If you really need the automatic transmission you will have to go to 2009 and get the Hybrid or the EX-L Civic.
Q: Can you added any honda civic wheel locks to a 99 honda civic?
My car is a 99 honda civic ex and my tire lock was lost when I went to get a tire rotation and I can get reinburse but I have to get a new tire lock, can I get any age of honda civic wheel lock or does it have to be from 1999. Thanks in advance.
A: i think it has to be from the same year.
Q: How many miles in the life of a Honda Civic?
I know many Toyota's have a life expectancy of around 600,000 miles if well maintained. How does the Honda Civic stack up?
A: Yes. Honda is more reliable than Toyota.
Any car of maintained could get 600,000 miles.
I have seen a VW Scirocco with over 600,000 miles and even a Ford Police car with 402,000 miles. And Ford is supposed to be the worst in reliability.
Honda's and Toyota's are the type of cars that easily last 200,000 miles if you don't take care of them.
Accelerating fast also decreases the life of the car.
Q: Do replacement speakers for a Honda Civic make a big difference in music sound?
I am thinking of replacing my rear speakers, door speakers, dash speakers in my Honda Civic to improve the sound quality of my stereo. I'd also like to get a new in dash CD/radio because the factory installed model doesn't play CD's anymore. What can I expect to pay? Any advantage to using a large Best Buy over a local small town stereo shop?
A: If you pay decent money and research your products first you will definitely see an improvement in sound quality. Just don't be cheap because you may be stepping down unintentionally. You can go local or big box stores, i find that local shops are more knowledgeable about the products they sell.
Q: How do you Install a cigarette lighter for a 91 Honda civic hatchback.?
Hello, my 91 honda civic hachback comes without a cigarette lighter and i bought the whole kit to install it in the car but it didnt come with directions. If some one can help me with a website or something to help me get this installed into my 91honda civic hatchback. THANKS !
A: You should buy a Honda Civic Service manual for the year and model of your car. This will help you locate where all the screws are for the panel you plan to install your cigarette lighter.
If you are simply replacing an existing cigarette lighter, then it should be easy to do. Remove the panel then unscrew and pop out the old cigarette lighter. Reconnect the positive (red) and negative (black) wire behind your cigarette lighter.
If you plan to install a cigarette lighter in a new spot, you'll need to have a multimeter and the 2 wires that will serve as your negative and positive connections for your new cigarette lighter. Then you'll need to extend a new wire from your cigarette lighter fuse from under your dashboard to the new spot for your cigarette lighter. The other wire can be tied to any metal frame or contact that serves as your ground terminal.
Turn your car to on and measure the voltage across the two wires at the new spot for your lighter. If it reads about 12 volts, then you can now connect and install your new cigarette lighter.
Good luck!
Q: The blower motor in my 2003 Honda Civic will run for a few seconds then shut down, any ideas?
Honda Civic 2003 blower motor will run for a few seconds then will shut off until the key is cycled on/off. During those few seconds the fan will only run at one speed (there are about 8 positions). Anyone have any ideas?
A: Sounds like your blower resistor is shot. If the only fan speed that works is the highest then that is your problem. Replacing that resistor will solve your problem. If its still under warranty it shouldn't cost you anything.
Q: How much does it cost to replace a 95 Honda Civic engine, with labor? Is it even worth it?
My 95 Honda Civic recently locked and froze, and the mechanic can't turn it over. He told me that it would cost around $3000 for a used engine, and $6000 for a new one (I'm assuming labor included). Does this sound right? What is the process of buying a new engine for an old car? Is it even worth it?
What should I do?
A: ebay sells motors for that car. for all that money they told you, you can buy another 95 civic! also for that much you can have it turbo with the inegra gsr motor in yours. are they crazy?
