Q: How can I restore fuel efficiency to my 2002 Honda Accord?
I have a 2002 Honda Accord, 2.3 litre. As per specification, it should run about 100 km/10 litres in city and 100 km/7.2 litres on highway. But it's giving me an average mileage of 100km/10 litres where I drive most on highways. What are the ways to restore efficiency to my 2002 Accord?
A: Your car does not need premium gas so do not run it. It is a waste of your money and of oil refineries limited abilities. If you have not in the past you can change the air filter, spark plugs, fuel filter, and clean the fuel and intake systems. Also make sure that you change your oil regularly and make sure that your tires are inflated to the correct pressure listed on teh sticker on the drivers door well. Also, cars do not live up to the specified fuel standards that car companies claim. Up until model year 2007 the fuel economy was derived using out of date techniques. In 2008 the way they calculate this was completely changed. Go to this website for the old and new numbers http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/ratings2008.shtml
according to it the ratings dropped about 5%.
Q: When do I need the major tune up for honda accord '97 sedan? How much and what needs to be done?
Im looking at buying a 1997 honda accord sedan 2.2L. Im not sure if the major tune up has been done yet, its at 107k miles. When does the major tune up need to be done for this year of the accord, how much, and what all needs to be replaced?
A: Take it to a mechanic and have them look at it. They can evaluate the condition much better than anybody here could.
Q: How to I find a cover for my honda accord side view mirror?
I have a 2003 Honda Accord sedan. I noticed yesterday that the cover that goes to the back of my right side view mirror is gone. Most likely lost at the car wash. It looks like a snap on and easy to fix. How do I find the right part? I should be able to put it back on as long as I can find the right part. I am sure the dealer would charge me an arm and a leg.
A: Contact your local dealership to obtain the part number and description, unless of course you already have that information. Then you should start searching the internet for companies that sell used or discounted parts, such as the one I have listed below. Or, you may call some salvage yards in your area to ask about the part in question. Ultimately, the salvage or junk yard may be your cheapest route... some places have the part already pulled and you pay them for the part, and others allow you to pull the part yourself for an additional savings.
Sometimes a little DIY research will save you a TON of money in the end. Good luck.

Q: How much does it cost to replace a starter on a Honda Accord '97?
Today I was driving my Honda Accord it's a '97 with 124k miles and I parked it and when I came out to go to work it wouldn't start. At first I thought it was the battery, but the radio and lights still worked inside. I tried to give it a jump, but it wouldn't even spark. Someone told me it could be the starter. Is that what it is? What else could it be? How much will it cost to replace the starter?
A: New: $251.83 (www.partstrain.com/
ShopByDepartment
/Starter/HONDA/ACCORD)
Used: About half that at any local used parts wreck yard

Q: How much does it cost to replace breaks for a 2002 Honda Accord?
How much does it cost to replace breaks for a 2002 Honda Accord? Per wheel? I am having a grinding noise that sounds like an axe sharpener when i break. Any help with a price range would be greatly appreciated so I can plan my budget. Thanks.
A: Front pads plus new rotors: $200 at Pep Boys or an independent shop (not a dealer's price). However, if your front rotors require a special puller to remove, it could cost you more.
Q: Where can I get more information on my Honda Accord stock stereo?
I have a Honda Accord 2006 6-disc changer stock stereo w/o an aux input in the front. Does it have an aux input in the back? Or do I need to get a fm modulator for that? I appreciate any info you guys can give me on this. Thanks!
A: No there is no auxiliary plug in the back. You'll need an FM modulator. Avoid FM broadcasters/transmitters. They have horrible sound quality.
Q: What is the average life expectancy(mile wise) of a Honda (Accord) to be exact?
I am planning on buying a used car and I found a Honda Accord with 86,000 miles on it. It looks very well kept. I was wondering how long can Honda's expect to last? I want to at least be able to keep it for another 100,000. Anyone know??
A: Well it really depends upon the year. I've owned 3 hondas an 83 accord junked at 110,000 a 87 accord junked at 170,000 and a 94 accord still running sweet with 112,000 on it. It very much depends how you maintain it but almost any cars built after 93 ive noticed can go 200,000 without any major replacements so really depends on the year. Some key notes you want to check when you test drive it is it the tranny shifts hard if automatic and if the brakes squeak a lot those are some more spending fixes on a used car brakes all around on a accord are about $800 and an auto tranny could run you about $1500.

Q: What are my options for a performance engine swap with a 1991 honda accord dx?
I have a 1991 honda accord dx and i want to do an engine swap.
A: your best option is to do a h22 swap which is a motor out of a prelude, they can be had for as little as 800-1000 or as much as 3500 or more, but it takes your bash horsepower from around 120 all the way up to 190 or even 220 if you import a h22 from japan. i have a complete h22 swap e book i can send you for free if you would like
Q: How much should it cost to replace a starter on a 1998 Honda Accord LX?
My 1998 Honda Accord LX won't start and will only tick when I try. My description to mechanics usually has them saying it's the starter. How much should it cost to replace it?
A: I'd say the starter for that car (shops cost) is about 110.00, so with the mark up and appropriate labor 300.00 sounds about right in line.
Q: Whats a better sound and performance upgrade for a Honda Accord 96, a flowmaster or a muffler?
I want to give my Honda Accord 96 a good sound and performance with either a Flowmaster or a muffler tip but I'm not sure which one to add to give it the best results possible.
A: You'll need a new exhaust system, not just a muffler/resonator. To be honest, though, unless you're also going to replace that sewing machine Honda engine (what, 2 liter?) you'll still be blown away by stock Nissan Altimas and Dodge Neons.
I've never understood the rationale of the "tuner" car. You have a used vehicle with the original motor with a fair amount of miles on it. Then you want to tweak more horsepower out of it and continue to use the stock transaxle? Recipe for disaster. In addition, some of the more urban types here in Houston spend a lot of money on wheel and tire combos for a car with a Blue Book value of maybe $1200. I don't get it.
Then again, I was 18 and stupid once. I had a '69 Mercury Marquis. I replaced the two barrel carb with a Holley 4 barrel and Edelbrock manifold (it came with a 429 Ford V8). I replaced the barcalounger suspension with pieces from a Mercury Montego, slapped a set of headers on it and dualed out the exhaust. It was the fastest 4800 pound luxury sedan (leather seats and interior) in Texas. Between 1979 and 1980 I ragged that motor out, punched a hole in the oil pan while pulling a Smokey and the Bandit maneuver on the Katy Freeway, and damaged the front suspension beyond repair.
EDIT: Sport Compact Car? That's hysterical! Kid, you're not going to get 300 horses out of a 2 liter four banger. The SR20DE is rated at what, 120 horses? It just won't happen. By the way, my hobby car is an '82 280ZX. I haven't owned an American car since 1980.
Q: How do you remove a headlight on a 93 honda accord?
I have a 1993 Honda Accord, and I cannot twist the socket around the headlight bulb to get the bulb out. It seems to be sealed on. So I was just going to remove the whole headlight, and go from there. Is there an easy way to do this?
A: there is an outer retaining ring on that headlight bulb that needs to be turned. you don't turn the bulb! you need to disconnect the connector from the bulb then look at the back of the headlight. you'll see a plastic ring that has four depressions that goes around the bulb. you need to turn that ring counter-clockwise to remove it. it only has to be turned about 1/8 turn to release the ring. you may be able to get two hands in to turn the ring. on some you have to pull out the 'snorkel' tube from in front of the battery to get access to the bulb on the passenger side.
if you can't move the ring (it will be tight!) try to use a hair dryer to heat up the ring. you don't want to melt it but it may expand if you heat it with a blow dryer. I don't think you want to use penetrating oil as you'll never be able to grip the ring after you soak it.. Perhaps tapping on the ring with a screwdriver and hammer may loosen it if all else fails.
do not turn the bulb! if you are able to you'll destroy the headlamp housing or your hand whichever gives way first.
to remove the headlight assembly you have to take the front bumper off. its to your benefit to do it in the car.
hope that helps
