Q: Honda?????
I'm going to buy a new car and I'm curious as to why so many people drool over hondas and acuras (civics, integras, rsx, etc) and put all kinds of aftermarket accessories. Personally, I think most hondas (not all acuras) look kinda cheesy, especially the older ones with the exhausts and body kits. Also, looking at the 0-60 times, they don't compare to other sports cars. For example, the new civic si is 1 second slower than the new altima v6 coupe and 2 seconds slower than a mustang gt. What makes honda such a great racer company?? Maybe I'm just not getting something

A: they're not racers, they're ricers! Just like little girls get Barbies to dress up and care for, little boys get hondas and attach all manner of ugly/loud/hilarious body kits, lights, fart cans and crap. Everyone knows that the more aftermarket stuff attached to the ricer, the bigger the babymaking equipment of the babyboy driving it (I'd say owning it, but it's inevitably registered to his mommy).

Q: What's the difference between Honda aftermarket dirt bike and regular Honda dirt bike?
From what I understand, the aftermarket bikes are still made with all Honda parts? Is it almost like having a "refurbished" Honda dirt bike? The same way they sell "refurbished" ipods, cameras, cell phones etc.? Or is there a lot more to it? Would a 150cc aftermarket Honda dirt bike still have the same power, durability, and endurance as a plain 150cc Honda?

A: when somebody says aftermarket it usually just means that there are some aftermarket parts on the bike, it doesn't mean the entire bike is aftermarket. unless its a bike i have never heard of. but i wouldn't get one if its all aftermarket because thats not a honda, its something else, somebody is probably trying to get money out of you. but it might have some after market parts and those are just parts that you can buy and put on the bike yourself and they are cheaper. but buy a real honda and do your own modifications, don't risk the aftermarket one.

Q: Was the older version of Honda City released in India better than the latest dolphin type models?
I am planning to buy a 2nd hand Honda City, and people suggests me to look our for an older version rather than the later ones, which they say are lighter, have more of plastic and fibre parts and not as solid as the first generation Honda city's that were released in India.

A: The older model develops 100bhp and the dolphin model 75, so the older model has more peppy engine. The dolphin type has DSI (double spark ignition) engine which means it has 8 spark plugs instead of 4 and the fuel average is supreme (over 20 on highway). The older model mileage is about 15. The dolphin model is more aerodynamic and still used.It is much better for visibility and anticipation thus is not accident prone like the older model.Seats are also more confortable in this model.(like a sofa) The variance is bhp does not matter much in Indian conditions. So go for the dolphin type.Best wishes

Q: What month does Honda start giving out the end of year deals?
I am planing on buying a new car. What month should I buy a 2008 Honda?

A: End of year deals normally start end of November. If you would like a "Hot" Honda ( civic, accord, etc.) there will not be much if any of a selection, or depending on how choosy you are, be prepared to drive to get it. Incentives drying up on fuel efficient cars and will be smaller on 2009's, and from my experience in the auto industry, when corporate starts pushing end of the year sales, if we have a total of 200 new cars on the lot, 10 of them will be the previous years models ( over all models.) Not saying you will not be able to find one, you will just need to be very flexible and will need to pull the trigger asap when/if you find one. Good Luck!

Q: Why does my Honda Foreman 450S jump out of 1st and 2nd gear under acceleration?
I have a 2004 Honda Foreman 450 S with 1516 miles and 260 ish hours. Under even moderate acceleration it will jump out of gear, or not shift into it entirely. Does anyone have any tips or advice on how to remedy this situation?

A: The shifter linkage needs to be adjusted. If there is no adjustment there then it is internal and the shifting fork will need to be adjusted. The gearbox will have to be disassembled to do this.

Q: What is the difference between the seat pan on a honda cm200t and a honda cm400?
I have a 1981 honda cm200t and found a honda cm400 seat and would like to know if it will fit or if I can modify it to fit mine. Thanks.

A: it will require a huge amount of reworking as it is too long too deep too wide and the mounts are totally in the wrong place and wrong size Try a CD 185 or CD200 or a CM125 seat as they all share the same frame as the CM200

Q: How long does a Honda usually last on average?
I have a 95 Honda Civic with 310,740 miles on it. I bought it from it's previous owner. And it still starts up and drives very well.

A: If they're taken care of Hondas will last a very long time. I live in what is called a "Honda town" and you wouldn't believe the number of pre-1994 old Hondas driving around. We bough a 91 Accord in 1999 with 150,000+ miles and it is still going strong. It needs a rear engine mount but they're really expensive compared to the value of the car so I just live with the vibrating. Several cars have come and gone in my family since then but we've always kept the Accord because it's so reliable and trouble free at over 200,000 miles (we don't think it was taken care of before we bought it). My friend is very hard on cars and in 2001 bought a 92 Accord that had 250,000+ miles; it was well over 350,000 miles when it was stolen a year or two ago. It had been in a few accidents so the the bumpers were held on with wire and the trunk was tied shut but there were no mechanical problems at all. I bought my 03 Accord with higher mileage than I wanted but I know it will last for as long as I need it to and in the two years I've had it all I've done is replace the tires and wipers. Just make sure to keep up on the maintenance, especially the timing belt, and it will last a long time.

Q: Why doesn't my Honda lawn mower start after replacing crankshaft?
I replaced a crankshaft on my Honda HR216 Lawn Mower and now it doesn't start. What did I do wrong? Replaced the spark plug and the air cleaner to no avail. HELP. With all this rain I will have to get a few goats to keep my lawn in good shape.

A: Check the timing! The most common mistake when reassembling a honda! Bring the piston up to "Top Dead Center". Remove the camshaft pin. Align the "Horizon Lines" on the cam gear along the edge of the head. Reinstall the pin. Replace the cam cover. Congratulate yourself on a job well-done!

Q: Is it true that any brake pads besides Honda brake pads will cause squeaking and squealling?
I heard this from a service advisor at a Honda dealership hence my reluctance to believe him. So can anyone confirm if I should make sure my brake pads come from Honda. I think I've heard it from someone before back in the day but I'm not sure.

A: Yeah right. And always use only "Genuine Epson Ink" in your Epson printer. It's worth it, even though it costs 4 times as much as the stuff you can get online that works just fine! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! But seriously, use a good quality brand, with shims and anti-rattle clips if equipped, and do the rest of the job properly, and you'll be fine.

Q: How many miles con you put on a Honda ATV before having to do major repairs?
I just bought a 2001 Honda 350ES 4x4 ATV with 6300 Miles and 1100 hours. I thought that was quite high, but I bought it from a 73 year old man, and it looks like new! How many miles or hours do most people get out their Honda ATV before doing major repairs?

A: as long as you keep up with all your maintenance it will last you along time with out having to buy expensive replacement parts

Q: How much is a 1977 Honda Express in great shape with extremely low mile worth?
My parents own a 1977 Honda Express. In great shape with only 35 miles on it. Thats NOT 35K it's just 35 miles. Just emptied out the the first tank of gas and cleaned the lines. Cranks and runs great. I actually put 12 of the miles on it myself back in 2000 in the backyard of my grandparents house. I just was wandering how much the moped would be worth now days being the shape its in. Thanks for the information.

A: Between $200 - $1000. A bike collector that shows his bikes might pay more than someone that just bought it because it is old. Then someone else might want it because it would be inexpensive transportation. However to get $1000 the bike has to be absolutely perfect, no scratches, perfect stock rubber (tires, hoses, seals) original seat cover and clean enough to eat a meal off of. A real collectors bike.

Q: Is it necessary to use Honda Transmission fluid, or can a regular one be used?
Just wondering if my transmission will be ruined if I use a different type of transmission fluid, instead of the Honda transmission fluid.

A: The type of fluid is more critical than the brand. You cannot mix types. Look in the owners manual and it will give the specification of the fluid. You can use any fluid brand of that specification.

Q: Honda mower just back from its annual maintenance at the dealership. Will not start. Suggestions?
Honda GCV 160. Won't (pull) start with choke on or off.

A: Maybe they forgot to put the plug wire back on.

Q: What is the difference between Honda Sl 100 and Honda Sl 100 K2?
I have a 1971 Honda Sl 100 and I am not sure if it is a K2 or if there is a simple way to tell. I wanted to order parts off the honda website and I am not sure if the K2 speedometer will work. Thanks in advance.

A: 1970= K0 '71=K1 '72=K2 Those 3 all have same Speedo. Honda # 37200-110-780 .......................................................... '73=K3 has different meter,,,it's mounting is different,,and it's face is also .................................................... On the Early ones,,,the 2 mounting studs are positioned at roughly 10:00 & 2:00 O'clock position,,,relative to the Drive Connection Bolt,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Bolt ,,,,,,,,,,Drive,,,,,,,,,,(or center,,,needle pivot) ................................................................................... 1973 K3's are sorta Opposite ,,,,,,,,,DRIVE,,,,,,, Bolt,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Bolt They also have a big rubber ring "cushion mount" that cups the bottom of the speedo,,,, The earlier ones dont. In "worst case",,,the Speedos Can be Interchanged. But it requires "Everything" to mount the speedo,,, and the wiring for the lights>>I just cannot recall what's required for a swap I "THINK" the K3 had an Indicator Light in Speedo for turn signals,,,and earlier ones did not.....???? Basic instrument & lighting is "adaptable",,,,but it's an effort. .............................................................. To Identify exactly which year/model you have,, 1970>K0,,,,(or "NO K" ) Serial Number began at # SL100-100001 '71>K1 Serial Number began at # SL100-200001 '72>K2 Serial Number began at # SL100-1200001 "73>K3 Serial Number began at # SL100-1300001 Your Number will be Between 2 of those,,,,and belongs to the Series' Starting Number Group. Your 1971,,for example. It's Serial Number will be >Higher than SL100-200001 Lower than a '72's Beginning #SL100-1200001 Hope that helps.

Q: What motorcycles has Honda manufactured through the years in Ohio?
I just read about Honda closing down the motorcycle assembly plant in Ohio. I am looking for a different used bike to buy for spring, and the themes kind of blended. Which models did Honda assemble there, especially in the 15 years? I know currently the VTX1800/1300 and Goldwing. Thanks.

A: The FIRST Bike made there was a CR250,,, One THE "Greatest Motorcyles in History" by Many,Many Measures.
